Hello!
My name is Victoria! I wish I could say I was from somewhere cool, but I lived in Leavenworth, Kansas (right outside of KCK on the border of Misery) from Kindergarten to graduation. As much as I despise change and I've finally settled in my own apartment (that doesn't want to squeeze every cent out of me) the ultimate goal is to be...anywhere but here. Maybe the East Coast; I liked it there the few times I got to visit.
My passions change a lot, but I always love creating in any aspect and my current obsession is the Pokemon TCG (I work in a game store, promise it has nothing to do with the craze that happened over COVID). I am a major advocate for conservation and legitimate sustainable practices. HMU if you want to hear me talk your ear off about how "sustainable" is a buzz word that doesn't necessarily mean what it should! I'm also very excited to teach in any context. Currently I have two students that I tutor (in two different time zones!) mainly gen-ed and SPED. I would love to incorporate this into something in my future career, but honestly I haven't gotten that far yet.
I can't get enough of how perfectly everything works together in the natural world, especially when left undisturbed to adjust on its own. Ecosystems and the organisms within them naturally know what to do, even in the event of massive catastrophes. It's often amazing that, sometimes even, the response that makes the most sense is to just die off and make space. The world is ever changing and the ebb an flow is fascinating. I think this is relevant to even everyday life, the idea that your actions will always affect something else, even small things making smaller things. Just the idea, not necessarily the book definition of "evolutionary theory" but the idea that everything responds to external and internal stimuli every day.
What do I want to get out of this course?
To be perfectly honest: the required credit.
To be a bit more vague: I thoroughly enjoy discussion and deeper thinking, listening and absorbing everyone's thoughts, opinions, and experiences. I hope to enjoy and embrace that in the class.
Welp have fun!
Here's a picture of my dog being a derp.

Your dog is! So! Cute!!! I love them, what's their name?! Give them love for me!!!
ReplyDeleteUh, ahem, on topic. Sorry. Hi, I'm Madison! Nice to meet you! Even if this course isn't the highlight of your life (which...it probably should be, let's be real), I hope you still manage to have a good time! I'm definitely here for some fun. And learning. Fun learning.
Yeah.
Anywho, let me know if you have any questions about coding, concepts, or...uh, anything, really. I'm here to help! I look forward to seeing your insights throughout the semester!
Hello! His name is Shadow and he requires all the pats or he will perish. I'm actually super excited to discuss stuff this semester!
DeleteHi there Victoria! I definitely understand what you mean regarding trying to go somewhere new and far away. I haven't ever traveled to the East Coast, but have a weird desire to go there and check it out for a few years.
ReplyDeleteI found your discussion of the natural world and how you somewhat connected it to the topic / idea of evolution quite interesting.
Hey Victoria! Your dog is so cute! I like that you have interesting and changing passions- that you're super open to finding new hobbies! That is super awesome that you tutor two students- I love teaching and would like to do something like that as well! I like your thoughts on the ideas of the evolutionary theory- very intentional and well thought out!
